On Saturday, May 15, 2010, in Albany New York, the Green Party State Committee nominated its state-wide slate of candidates. I was a candidate for US Senate, and indicators were positive for the nomination. There were two open slots, and a dearth of candidates.
I was shocked when I lost. My surprise defeat, and the process on Saturday, were products of a process so flawed, I am prompted to resign from the Green Party State Committee, and its adjunct “Campaign Committ…

Just jammed this out on a Green Party list-serv, thought I'd share it here too:

Regarding the progress of the party:
I have been reading the excellent
Team of Rivals about Lincoln's
political genius (and his powerful use of empathy). In a lot of ways,
the Green Party right now…

The American Left continues to suffer from doctrinaire thinking, which in turn, hampers its ethics.
I ran into a classic example of this this weekend at the Left Forum. Before I start, let me allow my subject to have the first word. This is
Ken Silverstein, Washington Editor at Harper's, from
his blog post about our exchange:

It's the 7th Anniversary of the death of activist Rachel Corrie. A good day to publish the lyrics I wrote about a friend of mine, and me, and the play she did, about Rachel Corrie, based on her writings, a few months ago....
She said “we’re doing a play”
I said “what play?”
“My Name is Rachel Corrie
We go up on Friday.”
I recalled the courage
Of that young woman cut down
In Palestine
In a bull-dozed town
She got the show on its feet
I…

Green Party's Sander Hicks Announces for US Senate
3.4.2010
I will seek my party's nomination to be one of two Green U.S. Senate Candidates this election cycle, here in New York State.
My campaign will be all about "Popular
Power" (borrowing a term from the successful Allende campaign in
Chile). We need a populist green revolution at the ballot box to bring
in real transparency to this government, to expose its control by Big
Banking, Wall Street…

The world is changing so quickly—the old prejudices of the establishment left are eroding away fast. The Truth Movement presents a real opportunity for a broad mass movement against war. It seems like a good time for a guest blogger, our very first here at this blog.
This is a "Primer on 9/11 Truth" perfect for lefties and peace people who want to have an effective summary of the key facts we in the Truth Movement have dug out and debated for the last nine years. This is authored by Ian…

It really bugs me that my old blog at
GNN.tv, and that entire site, has been shut down, and it seems that no one has an explanation??? It's alarming. Does anyone have anything on this?
One of the greatest blog posts I put up there was the raw transcript of my confrontation with FBI Special Agent Stephen Hayes, in Shreveport, LA, when I was investigating the strange murder of 9/11 researcher and writer Dr. David M. Graham.

2009 was a great year for penury and poetry, recession and revolution. Big feelings, big changes.
I had/am having a great relationship, well, it's sort of up in the air right now, but I think it will be all right. One mark of its impact has been the poetry it has pulled out of me.
To mark the passing of 2009, and the bright New Year, I have decided to publish some of the poems. Yes, that's right, you get to look inside me secret heart. I have been writing poems about love.
First, two for LW,…

Does the word "business" make you cringe? Maybe you need to meet me! All my adult life I have attempted this mix of business, social causes, and activism. Sometimes it has worked GREAT! Sometimes, well... read on.
Here are three short essays I wrote for Columbia Business School's application, this week. Please feel free to comment. I hope that this elucidates my reasoning for the perplexed, for the doctrinaire, and for the ultra-left lovers of my life.

I just wrote this to a friend in Canada, and I wanted to share it with the world:
Hey, I wanted to share with you the best moment of my Christmas. I went to Mass after being on the bus all day, a Mass with my folks and my sisters and their families. There was a hokey musical medley from a Filipino choir plus mild choreography, which was so-so. And the homily was given by a deacon working in the FBI. That made my blood run cold. But the first reading was given with passion and insight by a woma…

I feel very blessed today. I just finished Philip K. Dick's last novel, riveted, on a bench, tripping on fiction, in the subway. Which is funny because 10 years ago exactly at this time I was reading one of Dicks novels from this same mystical, anti-fascist period, as I began to prepare to re-publish Fortunate Son and battle the Bushes. These novels are like potent drugs. This band and those books are a strong form of yeast to this doughy world. They inspire an uprising.
We are blessed by an al…
